Blasius's observation on human anatomy are followed by eighty five pages devoted to the anatomy of the dog. Regarding the anatomy of dog (Anatome Canis, pages 168 to 252), this is the first comprehensive and original treatise on a verterbrate since the publication of Ruini's volume on the horse in 1598" (Cole).
