Essay on the treatment of and cure of pulmonary consumption.London: Longmans & Co, 1840.Bodington was one of the first to advocate the sanatorium treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis, with “cold dry air for healing and closing cavities and ulcers of the lungs”. His idea was much criticized and he was discouraged from pursuing it. The first sanatorium to be run on lines similar to those suggested by Bodington was that established by H. Brehmer at Görbersdorf in 1859. The book was reprinted in 1906. Subjects: PULMONOLOGY › Lung Diseases › Pulmonary Tuberculosis Permalink: www.historyofmedicine.com/id/5012 |
