Originally based on the contents of the Munich Hofbibliothek, it was made more useful when Walter Arthur Copinger published a 3-volume supplement, 1895-1902, which added 6,619 items and corrected 7,000 of the original entries. In 1914, Dietrich Reichling completed a further supplement containing 1,921 items.
